As genetic testing becomes increasingly important in ALS and FTD care, understanding variant and age specific risk to develop symptoms is essential. This review examines penetrance across commonly associated genes and highlights implications for genetic counseling, predictive testing, and decisions for clinical trial participation and therapeutic initiation.
This important work will help advance better care and therapy development for patients and families affected by these diseases.
